When choosing an internet provider, you probably compare speeds, prices, and customer service. But have you ever considered how your internet connection holds up when things really heat up?
One VNET Fiber connection recently faced an extreme test. A garage fire caused significant radiant heat damage to the home’s exterior connection box. The coaxial cable was gone. The phone line was gone. The fiber box and its connections were severely damaged, with melted components and exposed lines.
And yet, the fiber connection was still working.
Despite the visible damage, the connection continued to deliver internet service.
We’re not suggesting you put your internet connection to the test with a fire. Please don’t! Still, this is a remarkable example of the resiliency of fiber-optic technology in action.
Thankfully, no one was harmed in the fire, and we were happy to replace the equipment!
